Choose a consumer item that has packaging.
Wine, cosmetics, fragrances, electronics, kitchen items… whatever. It must have packaging that is part of the sale.
(For instance, a very cool package is wrapped around a Nikon Z9. Now, I know none of you guys have any need for the camera so when you buy that cool box, just send me that nasty old camera and I’ll get rid of it for you. You can, of course, keep the box.)
Shoot the package as is.
Shoot the item with the packaging.
Shoot the item by itself.
Design a simple package with the item you shot in it.
Create a motion graphic with the image, some music, and text that moves.
That should be a hell of a case study for your portfolio.
